Course Description:
To ensure that the organization fulfills its mission and goals, the board must recognize problems before they become urgent, identify the root causes of issues, and keep the organization on course.  This workshop will provide nonprofit staff and board members with an intuitive visual assessment tool, which outlines program statistics and outcomes.  These dashboards can be shared with funders, the community, and other important stakeholders.  Sample key indicators include: financial picture; quality of service efficiency and productivity; service outcomes; and revenue/expense.

About the Presenter:
Mary Unkel began her marketing career with the promotion division of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Agency. Her years of hands-on experience at both the strategic development and on-going implementation of a broad range of Fortune 500 business objectives are fundamental to her basic marketing approach today.

Mary's career led her to a market management position in Sprint's Major Business Accounts Group where she was responsible for the retention of a $4.5 billion customer base.

In 2001, Mary was selected by the Nonprofit Management Fund to participate in the Board Consultant's Institute, a year-long Board Development training program conducted by BoardSource and Management Cornerstones. In 2004, Mary was again selected by the Nonprofit Management Fund to participate in a three-year training program for nonprofit management diagnosticians -- an honor that distinguishes her as the only nonprofit consultant to be certified in both approaches to nonprofit excellence.
