Please park in the parking garage below the library accessible from Adams Street. You will be able to enter the library through the garage entrance early for workshop registration. All other entrances will open at 9am or 12pm respectively. Your parking will be validated only if you park in the library garage.
Course Description:
Effective active listening will make or break your ability to interact effectively with your donors, Board of Directors, supervisor and staff. This session features crucial active listening insights and will provide you with the opportunity to put what you learn into practice immediately. Attend this session if you want to raise more money by strengthening donor and funder connections, improve your relationship with your Board and boss, and advance your career. Take-aways include a list of seven active listening tips and a donor visit "cheat sheet".
About the Presenter:
Martha H. Schumacher, CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) is President of Hazen Inc., a consulting firm dedicated to partnering with nonprofits to build fundraising relationships that last. She has been working with and within nonprofit organizations for more than 20 years. Before launching Hazen in 2003, Martha led Defenders of Wildlife's fundraising team for nine years.
Martha's clients are comprised of international, national, regional and local nonprofit organizations. Her current and recent clients include Safe Kids Worldwide, American Red Cross, National Aquariums in Baltimore and Washington D.C., Epilepsy Foundation, Capital City Public Charter School, National Partnership for Women & Families, Center for Biological Diversity and Shelter House. Martha is a recognized expert on Major Gifts; Nonprofit Organizational, Staff and Board Development; and Capital Campaign Strategy.
Martha serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International Board of Directors and chairs the AFP Communications and Marketing Committee. She was recently recognized as the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year by the AFP Washington D.C. Chapter (AFP/DC) and was the AFP/DC president in 2002.
