Using the Logic Model to Guide Program Planning and Performance Measurement

Course Description:
This interactive workshop covers the five steps of planning:  identifying community needs, identifying outcomes, logic model development and evaluation, and data collection. The workshop will include opportunities for participants to develop a logic model and performance measure indicators for their organizations. 

About the Presenter:
Dr. Margo Bailey served as Director, Quality Assurance at Melwood, Inc with responsibility for developing an infrastructure to support Melwood's activities for incident reporting & investigations, monitoring & review, accreditation & licensing, and program audits & evaluations.

Prior to Melwood, Dr. Bailey was an Assistant Professor at American University where she taught courses in Management Analysis, Human Resource Strategies, and Nonprofit Management to graduate students in the Masters of Public Administration Program. 

Dr. Bailey began her career as a consultant with Innovation Network, conducting evaluations of small and large nonprofit organizations.  

She has published several articles on topics ranging from evaluation in nonprofit organizations and cultural competency in academic and practitioner publications.  Her management expertise is supported by her board service with:

• Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School
• The Scholarship Academy
• Envision Training Company

Since 2006, Dr. Bailey has served as the chair for the Washington Post Excellence in Non-Profit Management Award selection committee. 

Dr. Bailey earned her Ph.D. in Public Administration, M. A. in Geography, and Masters of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, the number one ranked graduate school for Public Affairs in the United States. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B. A. in Urban Studies, with honors.
