Community Improvement Grants

The Toledo Community Foundation (TCF) introduced a community improvement project in 2005 to provide grants ranging from $100 to $1,000 to fund small projects that will improve the image of our community neighborhoods. The projects are carried out by citizen volunteers who live and work within these neighborhoods and do not require an official organization or nonprofit to receive the grant.

TCF is working with Leadership Toledo's Youth in Philanthropy Encouraging Excellence (YIPEE) students and Toledo Area Parent News, to administer and promote this grant program called the Neighbors Improving Community Excellence(NICE!) project.

The NICE! grant program gives priority to one-time community improvement projects performed by community volunteers within the Toledo area, including Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa and Wood counties in Ohio and Monroe county in Michigan. Requests are considered throughout the year and reviewed by YIPEE students. Applicants are notified in writing concerning a decision on their grant request within 30 days of application submission.

Do you need to remove or paint graffiti on a neighborhood wall, repair or replace a playground fence, clean up a deserted alley - NICE! grants may help.
