TCF Announces Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Scholarship Awards

The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded $45,000.00 in 2009-2010 college scholarships from the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation. Since its inception in 1994, this scholarship fund has awarded more than $510,000 to 54 students from 37 high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

New recipients, who each received $3,000.00 awards, include (institution attending in parenthesis): Toledo resident:  Katelyn Cody from Whitmer High School (The Ohio State University); Archbold resident:  Jordan Fruchey from Archbold High School (Grand Valley State University); Tecumseh, MI resident:  Anabel Gilbert from Clinton High School (Ohio Northern University) and Tiffin resident:  Cassandra Shuff from Tiffin Columbian High School (Xavier University).
 
Renewal scholarships were awarded in the amount of $3,000.00 each as follows:  Minjian Cui, Bryan (The Ohio State University); Nicholas Hastings, Toledo (The Ohio State University); Jennifer Heineman, Blissfield, MI (Siena Heights University);  Michael Hesselschwardt, Napoleon (University of Cincinnati); Shane Jeffers, Toledo (Case Western Reserve University); Elizabeth Kent, Maumee (Indiana University); Brittni Micham, Monclova (Williams College); Daniel Netry, Toledo (Bowling Green State University); Jack Rumpf, Toledo (Bowling Green State University); Alexa Sanders, Toledo (Miami University); and Bethany Wentz, Napoleon (Ohio Northern University).

The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 to assist deserving high school seniors from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in attending a post-secondary institution of their choice. Once awarded, the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study.

Applications for the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Scholarship are available through the Guidance Departments of over 100 high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, generally after the first of the year.
