Community Funds Grants Totaling Nearly $100,000 Awarded to Five Nonprofit Organizations
TOLEDO, OHIO, September 23, 2009 - The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $90,292 from its Community Funds to five area nonprofit organizations.
Grants from the Foundation's Community Funds are considered three times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is January 15, 2010.
Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio - $21,000 to support the Building Roads to a Future in Healthcare Project, which is a collaboration between Mercy College of Northwest Ohio and the Polly Fox Academy to provide health care career education.
The Foundation Center - $3,500 was awarded to support the Center, which maintains information about foundations and corporate grantmaking, the grant seeking process and nonprofit management.
The University of Toledo Foundation - $43,702 was awarded to support a community-based expansion of Project Succeed, a program of the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women.
Toledo School for the Arts -$10,000 was awarded to support the startup costs of the Artists Guild Program, which offers visual art students opportunities to create artistic pieces for sale within the community.
Toledo Zoological Society -$12,090 was provided to support preschool and summer camp program opportunities.
The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area. In existence since 1973, the Foundation now has more than 450 funds with assets of approximately $117 million. The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
