$200,000 in Funding Awarded to Preserve Jobs in the Arts
TOLEDO, OHIO, October 6, 2009 - The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo and Toledo Community Foundation are pleased to announce the distribution of $200,000 in funding from the National Endowment of the Arts and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to preserve jobs in the arts in a 15-county area of Northwest Ohio. The funds were distributed through a competitive granting process administered jointly by the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo and
Toledo Community Foundation.
The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo applied for and received the funds for this re-granting process from the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in a nationwide competitive process. ACGT was one of 16 local area arts agencies to receive the maximum award from the NEA. Priority consideration was given to organizations that needed funds to replace jobs in the arts that have already been eliminated or to preserve jobs that are in danger of elimination.
Funds were awarded to the following organizations:

Henry County Arts Council, $5,000
Lima Symphony Orchestra, $8,000
Lott Industries, Inc., $25,000
Project ABC, $7,500
Scrap4Art, $10,000
Springfield Schools Foundation, $8,200
Sunshine Foundation, Inc., $7,500
The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County, $20,000
The Children's Theatre Workshop of Toledo, $5,000
Tiffin Theatre, Inc. (dba The Ritz Theatre), $15,800
Toledo Ballet Association, Inc., $10,000
Toledo Botanical Garden, $15,000
Toledo Museum of Art, $15,000
Toledo Opera Association, $20,000
Toledo Repertoire Theatre, $10,000
The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area. In existence since 1973, the Foundation now has more than 450 funds with assets of approximately $113 million. The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
