Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation Awards Grants Totaling Nearly $92,000

TOLEDO, OHIO, November 6, 2009 - The Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $91,905 to seven nonprofit organizations:

Arts Council Lake Erie West - $21,500 grant to support the Glass House Writing Project that provides reading and writing instruction to youth incarcerated at the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Family Outreach Community United Services (FOCUS) - $18,000 to support housing and homeless prevention services.

Diabetes Youth Services - $10,000 to support educational and supportive services for children with diabetes and their families.

Diocese of Toledo - a challenge grant of $7,130 to support the window replacement project at the Padua Center.

Joyful Connections - $10,000 to support security expenses.  Joyful Connections offers a safe, neutral, home-like environment where children are transferred between custodial and non-custodial parents.

Mom's House, Inc. - $18,000 to support child care and parenting education services.

Toledo Ballet Association - $7,275 to support the 2010 Summer Musical Theater Program.  The program is offered in collaboration with the Catholic Club and provides children the opportunity to participate in dance instruction and perform in a musical production.  

The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area.  In existence since 1973, the Foundation now has more than 450 funds with assets of approximately $113 million.  The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
