TCF Awards Grants Totaling $123,500 to Four Nonprofit Organizations

TOLEDO, OHIO, December 21, 2009 - The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $123,500 from its Community Funds (both unrestricted and field of interest) to four area nonprofit organizations. 

Grants from the Foundation's unrestricted funds are considered three times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is January 15, 2010. The Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in Northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible stewardship of resources.

Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
 Imagination Station - $20,000 was awarded to support the Imagining the Future project, which will use web-based technology to integrate the science center's on-site learning experiences with classroom activities.

 Neighborhood Properties, Inc. - $20,000 was awarded to expand tutoring services offered by the Fresh Start Learning Center. 

 Prizm Creative Community - $30,000 was awarded to support the Building a Sure Foundation project, which will support organizational enhancements.

 Toledo Restaurant Training Center - $53,500 was awarded to support education and training of students in the food service and hospitality industries. 

The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area.  In existence since 1973, the Foundation now has more than 450 funds with assets of approximately $129 million.  The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
