TCF Announces 2010 Jamie Farr Scholarship Awards

TOLEDO, OHIO, May 24, 2010 - The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded $48,000.00 in 2010-2011 college scholarships from the Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation. Since its inception in 1994, this scholarship fund has awarded more than $545,000 to 58 students from 41 high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

New recipients, who each received $3,000.00 awards, include (institution attending in parenthesis): Toledo residents:  Heaven Burns from Springfield High School (Kent State University) and Jamieson Williams from Rogers High School (University of Cincinnati);  Fostoria resident:  Morgan Hill from Hopewell-Loudon High School (Case Western Reserve University); and Graytown, OH resident:  BrookeAnne Blay from Oak Harbor High School (The Ohio State University).
 
Renewal scholarships were awarded in the amount of $3,000.00 each as follows:  Katelyn Cody, Toledo (The Ohio State University); Minjian Cui, Bryan (The Ohio State University); Jordan Fruchey, Archbold (Grand Valley State University); Anabel Gilbert, Tecumseh, MI (Ohio Northern University); Jennifer Heineman, Blissfield, MI (Siena Heights University); Michael Hesselschwardt,  
Napoleon (University of Cincinnati); Shane Jeffers, Toledo (Case Western Reserve University); Elizabeth Kent, Maumee (Indiana University); Daniel Netry, Toledo (Bowling Green State University); Alexa Sanders, Temperance, MI (Miami University); Cassandra Shuff, Tiffin (Xavier University) and Bethany Wentz, Napoleon (Ohio Northern University).

The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 to assist deserving high school seniors from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in attending a post-secondary institution of their choice. Once awarded, the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study.

Applications for the Jamie Farr Scholarship are available through the Guidance Departments of over 100 high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, generally after the first of the year. The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic tournament dates for 2010 are June 28-July 4 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
