TCF Announces Awards Totaling $282,584
TOLEDO, OHIO, June 1, 2010 - The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation (TCF) recently approved $282,584 in grants from its Community Funds and the Bill Rowles Youth Foundation Fund to 12 area nonprofit organizations.
Grants from the Foundation's Community Funds are considered three times annually, and are awarded to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals is September 1, 2010.
Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
Adelante - $50,000 was awarded to support the Parental Involvement Initiative.
AIDS Resource Center Ohio - $50,000 was awarded to support the Mpowerment Project.
Black Swamp Bird Observatory - $19,300 was awarded to support expansion of educational programming.
Ohio Historical Society - $15,000 was awarded to support expansion of the National History Day in Ohio program in the Toledo Public School system.
Read for Literacy - $15,000 was awarded to support the Creating Young Readers program.
Toledo Ballet Association, Inc. - $7,184 was awarded to support the Adaptive Dance program.
Toledo Children's Hospital Foundation - $82,000 was awarded to support a community-wide needs assessment in the area of autism.
The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio - $36,250 was awarded to expand the assistive technology services program that helps individuals to integrate adaptive vision technology into their daily lives.
Grants from the Bill Rowles Youth Foundation Fund, a new field of interest fund, were made to support youth programs, youth groups and youth serving organizations including:
Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation - a $2,850 grant was awarded to support the operations of Teen Central, which provides after-school recreational opportunities to seventh and eighth graders.
Children's Resource Center - a $1,000 grant was provided to support the purchase of recreational items.
American Red Cross, Greater Toledo Area Chapter - a $2,000 grant was awarded to support the Bee Ready Program, which teaches children about disaster preparedness.
Toledo School for the Arts - a $2,000 grant was awarded to support the school's operations.
