Andersons Fund Supporting Organization of TCF Awards Grants Totaling $196,644

TOLEDO, OHIO, July 19, 2010 - The Andersons Fund Supporting Organization of Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $196,644 to 13 area nonprofit organizations. 

Grants from the Andersons Fund Supporting Organization are considered once a year, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. Grants support organizations with programs in the areas of education, social services, physical and mental health, neighborhood and urban affairs, natural resources, and the arts. Priority consideration is given to requests related to capital projects. The deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is April 15th. 

Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
 Aurora Project, Inc. - $10,000 to paint and repair the soffits, windows and wooden trim.

 Beach House Family Shelter - $10,000 for the Tools of the Trade project.

 Boy Scouts of America - Erie Shores Council - $30,000 to support the Centennial Leadership Center capital campaign.

 Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo - $20,000 to support capital expenditures related to relocation of the South Toledo Boys & Girls Clubs to the new Marshall Elementary School. 

 Cherry Street Mission Ministries - $21,000 to purchase a walk-in freezer/cooler for the Madison Food Service & Community Center Kitchen.

 Food for Thought Toledo, Inc. - $2,143 to support renovations to the pantry.

 Martin Luther King Center - $4,000 to support renovations to the dining room.

 Neighborhood Properties, Inc. - $15,000 to rehabilitate apartment units.

 St. Paul's Community Center - $15,000 to purchase a passenger van.

 Sunshine Foundation, Inc. - $10,000 to replace the heating and cooling system in the therapeutic aquatic center.

 Toledo Botanical Garden - $25,000 to repair and resurface the service drives.

 Toledo Cultural Arts Center at the Valentine Theatre - $25,000 to support renovations and upgrades to Studio A.

 Toledo Society for the Blind dba The Sight Center - $9,501 to purchase equipment.
