TCF Awards Grants Totaling More Than $160,000 to Nine Nonprofit Organizations
Second Round of Community Funds Approved in 2010
TOLEDO, OHIO, September 27, 2010 - The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $160,070 from its Community Funds to nine area nonprofit organizations.
Grants from the Foundation's Community Funds are considered three times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is January 14, 2011.
Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
Collingwood Arts Center - an $11,780 grant was awarded to support the STAR Project, which is an arts enrichment program.
Diocese of Toledo, Padua Center - a $13,000 grant was awarded to support the expansion of the Padua Possibilities Program, which is an alternative suspension program.
Foundation Center - a $3,500 grant was awarded to support the Center, which maintains information about foundations and corporate grantmaking, the grant seeking process and nonprofit management.
International Boxing Club - an $18,010 grant was awarded to implement the Vocational Training Center, which will provide youth with practical, hands-on training in construction, plumbing and electrical installation.
Research Education & Charitable Association for the Benefit of the Chef and Farmer - a $9,000 grant was awarded to support the Earth to Table Program, which teaches grade school students about healthy food options, sustainable agriculture, soil testing, plant anatomy and composting.
Salvation Army, Northwest Ohio Area Services - a $21,000 grant was awarded to support the Bridging the Gap program, which offers first time juvenile offenders an alternative to entering the juvenile justice system.
Scrap4Art - a $22,880 grant was awarded to support the expanded operations of Scrap4Art. Scrap4Art offers recycled scrap to educators, artists and crafters, while educating children and the public of the value of creative reuse of waste materials.
The University of Toledo Foundation - a $57,900 grant was awarded to support the literacy and academic foundation of parents through the Supporting the Parents to Lead the Way Program.
Wood County Committee on Aging - a $3,000 grant was awarded to support the Healthy IDEAS Program, which educates the elderly about depression and health care services.
