Oswald Supporting Organization Awards Grants Totaling $144,734 to 10 Nonprofit Organizations

TOLEDO, OHIO, May 2, 2011 – The Oswald Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $144,734 to ten nonprofit organizations.  

  • AIDS Resource Center Ohio - a grant of $25,000 was supplied to support the Positive Living Program. 
  • Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, Inc. - a grant of $15,000 was supplied to support the 2011 Young Artists at Work Program. 
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Toledo - a grant of $8,947 was supplied to support programming at the new Marshall Elementary School, South Toledo Club. 
  • Catholic Charities, Diocese of Toledo, Inc. - a grant of $9,130 was supplied to support staff development and training expenses for the La Posada emergency shelter.
  • Double ARC - a grant of $25,000 was supplied to support diagnostic and case management services to children affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and their families.
  • Harbor House/300 Beds, Inc. - a grant of $3,064 was supplied to enhance programming designed to teach and reinforce sober living skills for women recovering from alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Lucas County Educational Service Center - a grant of $19,593 was supplied to support Challenger Learning Center experiences for students and teachers from Toledo Public Schools.
  • Read for Literacy, Inc. - a grant of $20,000 was supplied to support the Creating Young Readers Program. 
  • Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center - a grant of $9,000 was supplied to support the 2011 Community Gardens Youth Enrichment Program. 
  • Toledo Orchestra Association, Inc. - a grant of $10,000 was supplied to support the Community Music Lessons Program. 

            The Oswald Supporting Organization was created by Joan and the late Chuck Oswald in 2000 to support projects in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan that enable families to develop skills to nuture each other and to promote the advancement, self-sufficiency and intellectual, social, emotional and cultural growth of woman and children.
