The Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation Awards Grants Totaling $131,000 to Nine Nonprofit Organizations
TOLEDO, OHIO, November 4, 2011 – The Stranahan Supporting Organization of Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $131,000 to nine nonprofit organizations:
Arts Commission of Greater Toledo – $10,000 was awarded to support the 2012 session of the Young Artists at Work program, which offers youth an intensive arts experience that fosters artistic self-expression and teaches job skills.
Black Swamp Bird Observatory – $12,000 was awarded to support the Wetland Investigation Network, a science and math educational program that offers students kindergarten through grade 12 a day-long exploration of the Magee Marsh ecosystem.
Cocoon Shelter – $15,000 was supplied to support services to victims of domestic violence.
Diocese of Toledo – Padua Center – $20,000 was awarded to support the Padua Possibilities Program an alternative to out-of-school suspension for elementary school students.
Grace Community Center – $15,000 was awarded to support social service programs to those residing in the neighborhoods bounded by the streets of Collingwood, Cherry, Bancroft and Central Avenue.
Greater Toledo Urban League – $15,000 was awarded to support education, employment and enrichment programs offered by the organization.
Mountain Mentors – $14,000 was awarded to support programming for at-risk youth that includes one-to-one mentoring services, leadership and team building, substance abuse prevention education, job skills development and wilderness training.
Perrysburg Heights Community Association – $15,000 was awarded to support after school and summer programming for children and youth.
YWCA of Greater Toledo – $15,000 was awarded to support the Carerra Program, a comprehensive after school adolescent pregnancy prevention service.
