TCF Awards Grants Totaling $145,000 to Four Nonprofit Organizations

TOLEDO, OHIO, December 15, 2011 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $145,000 from its Community Funds to four area nonprofit organizations. 

Grants from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds are considered three times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is January 15, 2012. Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in Northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible stewardship of resources.

Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
 Glass Art Society, Inc. – $10,000 to support the 2012 Day of Glass experience that will be offered in conjunction with the Glass Art Society's 42nd Annual International Conference to be held in Toledo, Ohio.

 Lucas County Improvement Corporation – $30,000 to support economic development efforts in the Toledo area.

 Read for Literacy – $55,000 to support the school-based Creating Young Readers program.

 Toledo Orchestra Association – $50,000 challenge grant to support the 2012 Music Under the Stars program.
