TCF Announces Awards Totaling $23,388 from the 2014 Water Crisis Grant Program

TOLEDO, OHIO, September 23, 2014 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation recently approved $23,388 in grants from the 2014 Water Crisis Grant Program to seven area nonprofit organizations.  

Through a special funding cycle, grants from the 2014 Water Crisis Grant Program were made to nonprofit organizations that provided unanticipated services to community residents affected by the water advisory issued from August 2, 2014 through August 4, 2014. 

Grants were made to: 
American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio received $5,000 to support water crisis services.
Aurora Project, Inc. received $851 to meet the emergency needs of shelter residents.  
Neighborhood Properties, Inc. received $3,760 to obtain and deliver water to residents of adult care supportive housing facilities.
Toledo Public Schools received $5,000 to support the operations of two public water distribution sites. 
United Way of Greater Toledo received $3,841 to support expanded emergency capacity of the 2-1-1 information and referral call center.
Volunteers of America received $1,136 to obtain water for residents of the Chestnut Hill and Champlain Street supportive housing facilities. 
1Matters.org received $3,800 to support costs associated with obtaining and delivering water to area homeless shelters.
