$37,975 in Grants Announced from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club's Helping Hens Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation

TOLEDO, OHIO, June 2, 2015 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation recently approved $37,975 in grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund to 11 area nonprofit organizations.  

Grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund are made to nonprofit organizations providing sports and recreation services to youth enrolled in kindergarten through the twelfth grade. 

Grants were made to:
Central City Ministries of the Diocese of Toledo - $2,500 to support school sports programming.
FOCUS - $5,000 to support youth sports and recreation opportunities for children of formerly homeless families.
Grace Community Center - $3,200 to purchase sporting equipment for the summer camp program.
Kids Unlimited - $3,000 to purchase sporting equipment for use at afterschool and summer program sites.  
The Lenawee County Education Foundation - $2,915 to support programming that encourages exercise among developmentally disabled participants.  
Soul City Boxing & Wrestling Gym - $5,000 to support enrollment fees and to purchase equipment.
Toledo-Lucas County Police Athletic League (PAL) - $5,000 to support the youth baseball league.
Toledo Repertoire Theatre - $1,000 to support scholarships for the summer theatre education program.
Toledo School for the Arts - $5,000 to support a school age summer program that promotes artistic forms of physical activity. 
Toledo Zoological Society - $3,460 to support the Wild Animals and Healthy Kids program.
Unison Behavioral Health Group - $1,900 to implement a fitness and nutrition program for children served by the organization.
