TCF Announces Recipients of 2015 Jamie Farr Scholarships

TOLEDO, OHIO, June 10, 2015 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded $48,000.00 in 2015-2016 college scholarships from the Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation. Since its inception in 1994, this scholarship fund has awarded $881,000 to 79 students from 48 different high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

New recipients, who each received $3,000.00 awards, include (institution attending in parenthesis): all Toledo residents: Rochelle Bauer from Horizon Science Academy Toledo (The University of Indianapolis); Morgan Korecki from Toledo School for the Arts (Bowling Green State University); Ngoc Lien Mai from Toledo Early College High School (The University of Toledo); Caitlin Matthews from St. Ursula Academy (John Carroll University); and Mikayla Simon from Central Catholic High School (The Ohio State University).   

Renewal scholarships were awarded in the amount of $3,000.00 each as follows:  Sabrina Brown, Montpelier, OH (Shawnee State University); Jamie Comstock, Sylvania, OH (The University of Toledo); Jesse Eckert, Findlay, OH (The Ohio State University); Erin Graves, Bowling Green, OH (Miami University); Beth Ann Less, Holland, OH (University of Michigan); Michaela Marincic, Findlay, OH (St. Olaf College); Samantha Martin, Clinton, MI (Michigan State University); Zachary Swan, Toledo, OH (University of Cincinnati); Natalie Thomsen, Toledo, OH (Xavier University); Abigail Vaculik, Swanton, OH (The Ohio State University); and Nathaniel Wilhelm, Custar, OH (Ohio Northern University).

The Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 to assist deserving high school seniors from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in attending a post-secondary institution of their choice. Once awarded, the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study. 

Applications for the Jamie Farr Scholarship are accepted online through the Foundation’s website: www.toledocf.org and information about availability is provided to Guidance Departments of over 120 high schools in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, generally after the first of the year. The 2015 Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I, formerly known as the Jamie Farr Tournament, will be held July 13-19 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.  The Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation is a beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from this tournament, which help to fund these scholarships.
