TOLEDO, OHIO, December 2, 2015 – In partnership with Toledo Community Foundation, the Anderson Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $75,403 to five area nonprofit organizations.  Earlier this year, the Board of Trustees of the Anderson Foundation partnered with Toledo Community Foundation to release a new funding opportunity to area nonprofit organizations providing services that are aligned with the goals of Aspire.  Under this special request for proposals, grants were awarded to the following organizations:

Library Legacy Foundation of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library – $15,403 to support the Ready to Read “Ready, Set ... Kindergarten!” expansion project.
Mom’s House of Toledo, Inc. – $20,000 to support high quality early childhood education.
Read for Literacy, Inc. – $5,000 to support the development of early literacy skills for young children in East Toledo.
Toledo Day Nursery – $15,000 to support two new preschool classrooms in the Old South End of Toledo.
The University of Toledo Foundation – $20,000 to support the Reach Out and Read program.

Aspire is a collective impact partnership that convenes community leaders around a common “cradle to career readiness” agenda.  It connects service providers, citizens, researchers, educators and business leaders around the common goal of helping children become healthy, caring, responsible adults.  One of Aspire’s five key outcomes is that all children in Lucas County enter kindergarten ready to succeed.   For more information on Aspire, visit www.aspiretoledo.org.

The Anderson Foundation is a private family foundation.  The Anderson Foundation strives to enhance the quality of life in communities in which the donor company, The Andersons, Inc., has business operations. Through this unique opportunity, the Anderson Foundation and Toledo Community Foundation are working together to support projects, programs or services that promote cradle to career success for children in the greater Toledo area.   The trustees of the Anderson Foundation are very pleased to be able to award grants to these deserving organizations, each of which is providing services that so positively impact young children in our community.

Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area.  In existence since 1973, the Foundation has more than 685 funds with assets of approximately $227 million.  The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
