Toledo Community Foundation Announces Recipient of Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship

TOLEDO, OHIO, May 18, 2016 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that Gabriella Olivo of Toledo, OH is the recipient of a $1,500 Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship. This scholarship provides an annual, one-time award for graduating high school students of Hispanic heritage who are permanent residents of Buckeye CableSystem’s Toledo service area to attend an accredited post-secondary institution of their choice.

Ms. Olivo will graduate this month from Toledo Early College High School, and will attend The Ohio State University this fall where she plans to pursue a nursing degree.

While in high school, Ms. Olivo participated in the Garden Club, Book Club, Drama Club, National Honor Society, and was Class Treasurer. Her volunteer activities include numerous church committees and service projects, as well as Calvary Church Worship Team and Calvary Student Ministries.

This scholarship was established by Buckeye CableSystem and Telemundo, one of the Spanish-language networks carried on Buckeye. Scholarship applicants are required to have a
minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and submit an essay addressing the theme “I’m Proud to be a Latino in Ohio.”

Application for the Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship of the Toledo Community Foundation is administered online at www.toledocf.org. Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will be available in December. Scholarship awards are announced in April.
