Toledo Community Foundation Announces Awards Totaling $28,516 from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club's Helping Hens Fund

TOLEDO, OHIO, May 19, 2016 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation recently approved $28,516 in grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund to eight area nonprofit organizations.

Grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund are made to nonprofit organizations providing sports and recreation services to youth enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Grants were made to:

Children’s Theatre Workshop received $1,500 to support summer camp programming.

The First Tee of Lake Erie received $7,000 to purchase specialized equipment and to support summer programs.

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio received $4,468 to support a summer camp for Latina girls.

Autism Model School received $2,500 to support a dance program for participants with autism spectrum disorder.

Padua Center received $1,100 to support a summer camp program for participants from low income families.

Salem Lutheran Church received $1,410 to support softball and basketball teams in North Toledo.

Toledo-Lucas County Police Athletic League (PAL) received $5,038 to support the youth baseball league.

YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo received $5,500 to support the Bicycle Fix-It and Safety program.
