TCF Elects 2017 Officers and Welcomes Four New Board Members

TOLEDO, OHIO, April 3, 2017 – The Toledo Community Foundation Board of Trustees elected officers and welcomed four new members at its annual meeting in March.

The newly elected officers are Scott A. Estes, Chair (EVP/Chief Financial Officer, Welltower, Inc.); Michael J. Anderson, Vice Chair (Chairman of the Board, The Andersons, Inc.); Zac Isaac, Treasurer (Executive Officer, State Bank & Trust Co.); and Susan F. Palmer, Secretary (Development Fundraising Consultant).

Four area civic leaders were named as new Trustees to replace retiring board members.
Richard L. Arnos, President, Republic Development; Richard J. Brunner, Chairman & CEO, Signature Bank, N.A.; Michael C. Gibbons, President and CEO, Mainstreet Ventures, Inc.; and Hussien Y. Shousher, retired President, GEM, Inc., were elected to serve four-year terms beginning in 2017. Jim Hoffman, Rita Mansour and Dave Waterman retired from the Board at the end of 2016.

Rick Arnos is an owner and President of Republic Development, an Ohio-based real estate development company. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and completed an executive seminar at Harvard Business School in real estate project development, capital market access and regulatory compliance. Rick has been involved in professional, educational and community activities, and currently serves on the Lourdes University Investment Committee; member of the Harvard Northwest Ohio Schools and Scholarship Committee; and member of a midwest Ohio angel venture capital fund and of Plymouth Ventures, a southeast Michigan later stage venture capital fund.

Rick Brunner is Chairman & CEO of Signature Bank, N.A. He is also one of the bank’s original founders, helping start the bank in 2002. Prior to the formation of Signature, Rick was a commercial lender with Capital Bank from 1992-2001. Rick has served on several community boards including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Central Catholic High School, Flower Hospital and ProMedica Health System. He earned his B.S. degree from Miami University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.


Mike Gibbons is a successful restaurateur operating businesses in 12 cities across five states as the President and CEO of Mainstreet Ventures. Active in and an advocate for the restaurant industry, he has received many past and present positions at the state and national level and through his philanthropic efforts. At the local community level, Mike serves on several boards including the Finance Committee for ProMedica and the Board of Lourdes College.


Hussien Shousher was the former CEO of GEM and GEM Energy, and worked with the Rudolph Libbe Group for 25 years. Hussien has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo. Among his community service activities, Hussien is Chairman of PROPEL Youth Mentoring Organization; member of Vistage (World’s largest CEO Organization), Cleveland/Akron region; Chairman of Center for Arab American Philanthropy; member of The Peer Group (National Benchmarking Group); United Way cabinet member; member of HearCare Connection, Global Medical Missions; and board member of Rudolph Libbe Companies, Lourdes University, ACCESS Detroit and Sunshine Community.
