TCF Announces Awards from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club's Helping Hens Fund

TOLEDO, OHIO, June 25, 2018 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation recently approved $40,000 in grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund to 10 area nonprofit organizations.

Grants from the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club’s Helping Hens Fund are made to nonprofit organizations providing sports and recreation services to youth enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Grants were made to:
Children’s Theatre Workshop received $1,000 to support scholarship opportunities for youth with limited financial resources.

Diabetes Youth Services received $10,000 to support summer camps tailored for youth with type-1 diabetes.

Greater Toledo Challenger Little League received $10,000 to support a baseball league that serves youth with disabilities.

Leading Families Home received $3,000 to offset costs related to organized sports and other recreational activities for children experiencing homelessness.

Monroe Street Neighborhood Center received $1,256 to support transportation costs for a summer youth program.

Salvation Army, Northwest Ohio Area Services received $2,200 to support a summer camp program for children from low-income families.

Sara’s Garden received $5,944 to purchase adaptive tricycles designed to increase exercise opportunities for disabled students.

Serenity Farm Equestrian Center received $1,000 to initiate an equine-based exercise program for young adults with disabilities.

Toledo-Lucas County Police Athletic League (PAL) received $2,000 to support the youth baseball league.

Wood Lane Residential Services received $3,600 to initiate a summer recreation program for developmentally disabled adults.
