The Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation Awards Grants Totaling $378,838 to 12 Nonprofit Organizations

TOLEDO, OHIO, January 4, 2019 – The Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $378,838 to these 12 organizations and initiatives:


Aspire – A grant in the amount of $25,000 was awarded to support the general operations of Aspire, a data-driven, collective impact strategy to advance the success of Lucas County children from cradle to career.

Aurora Project, Inc. – A grant in the amount of $35,000 was awarded to support housing services for homeless women and their children.

Black Swamp Bird Observatory – A grant in the amount of $35,000 was awarded to support conservation education programming.

Children's Theatre Workshop – A grant in the amount of $30,000 was awarded to support theatrical education programming.

Junior Achievement of Northwestern Ohio – A grant in the amount of $25,000 was awarded to support program operating costs.

Martin Luther King Center / Kitchen for the Poor, Inc. – A grant in the amount of $35,000 was awarded to support meal services.

Monroe Street Neighborhood Center – A grant in the amount of $40,000 was awarded to support the 2019 Freedom Schools Program.

National Wildlife Federation – Great Lakes Regional Office – A grant in the amount of $12,970 was awarded to support the Toledo Sacred Grounds Project.

Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center – A grant in the amount of $35,000 was awarded to support art and cultural programming and upgrades to the Jose Martinez Memorial Galeria building.

Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. – A grant in the amount of $31,018 was awarded to support the Overland Solar Initiative.

TutorSmart – A grant in the amount of $34,850 was awarded to support the pilot tutoring project.

Zepf Community Mental Health Center – A grant in the amount of $40,000 was awarded to the Safety Net Runaway Youth Shelter program.
