TCF Fund Awards Grants Totaling $13,000 to Support Youth Programs

TOLEDO, OHIO, April 5, 2019 – The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently approved grants totaling $13,000 from the Bill Rowles Youth Foundation Fund to support programs in northwest Ohio that enhance the lives of young people under the age of 18.

Mr. Rowles created a Field of Interest Fund at Toledo Community Foundation to support youth programs, youth groups, youth serving organizations and other activities in northwest Ohio which enhance the lives of young people, aged 18 years and younger. According to his wishes, funding priority is given to programs, groups, organizations and activities in the Wood County, OH area. Since the fund’s inception in 2009, including the grants recently approved, 53 grants have been made totaling more than $105,000.

Grants were recently awarded to six area nonprofit organizations.

Grace Community Center – a $1,500 grant was awarded to support an urban gardening program for youth participants at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system.

Mountain Mentors – a $1,500 grant was awarded to support a mentoring program for underserved teen participants.

Perrysburg Heights Community Association – a $3,000 grant was awarded to support an afterschool tutoring program for students in the Perrysburg school system.

The RIDGE Project, Inc. – a $2,500 grant was awarded to support a program that teaches healthy life choices to juvenile offenders through the creation of public service announcements.

Serenity Farm Equestrian Center – a $1,500 grant was awarded to support equine-based occupational therapy services.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace – a $3,000 grant was awarded to build and deliver beds to children in Wood County.
