About this event

This session is an interactive presentation on the nature and impact of structural racism and what it looks like across institutions. Over the course of a 3.0 hour webinar training, REI will examine narratives around racial disproportionality and make use of compelling research data to illustrate the systemic nature of racism and the fallacy of typical explanations like poverty, education, social class, individual behavior or cultural attributes that often get associated with particular racial groups. Before addressing racial inequity or perceived acts of discrimination or oppression, it is critical to understand what institutional racism looks like and the devastating impact it wields on our nation’s people, economy and social institutions.

At the conclusion of the training, attendees will break for lunch then join a 1.5-hour Zoom meeting for facilitated discussion on their learnings and reflections about the morning's program.

Thanks to the significant investment of our sponsors, this program is available at no charge to community partners.

Capacity for this training is extremely limited and your commitment to your registration is appreciated. We anticipate a wait list for the program, so please contact Philanthropy Ohio ([email protected]) if your attendance ability has changed so that others may be accommodated in the program.

PLEASE NOTE: Zoom webinar connection information will be sent by REI 2-3 days prior to the training. Attendees must pre-register using the links provided in this email. Information for the afternoon dialogue will be sent by Laura Smith ([email protected]). If you do not have this email the day prior to the program, please check your spam folder and contact Laura via email.
