TOLEDO, OHIO, June 17, 2021 – The Board of Trustees of Greater Toledo Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $1,045,730 from its Community Funds grant programs which includes the Initiative, Builder and Impact funds. Greater Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible stewardship of resources.
The Community Funds Initiative Grants Program supports projects in the areas of Education, Health, Access and Nonprofit Capacity Building. Through this fund, HOPE Toledo Services was awarded $600,000 (over three years) to partner with Toledo Early Learning Coalition and YWCA of Northwest Ohio to establish a shared services system that will provide resources like bookkeeping, fiscal oversight, enrollment management and human resources support to child care service providers in northwest Ohio through a membership model.
The Community Funds Impact Grants Program provides seed money for new, innovative programming that addresses unmet community needs. Through this fund, Greater Toledo Community Foundation awarded the following six grants totaling $420,730.
The Community Funds Builder Grants Program provides seed money for new, innovative programming that addresses unmet community needs or to support capacity building efforts of existing nonprofit organizations. One grant totaling $25,000 was awarded.
Grants from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds (aka Community Funds) are considered two times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. Community Funds are one of many options the Foundation offers to meet our donors’ different charitable interests. Community Funds offer the broadest giving option, allowing grants to be made wherever our professional staff determines our community’s needs are the greatest.
