TOLEDO, OHIO, June 29, 2020 – The Board of Trustees of Greater Toledo Community Foundation recently approved three grants totaling $33,145 from the COVID-19 Response Fund to support northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofit organizations, bringing the total distributed since March 31st to $435,708.

The following three grants totaling $33,145 were recently approved through the fund.

Leading Families Home: to assist in transitioning the organization’s administrative offices into additional bed space to accommodate the increased number of residents seeking shelter services in the wake of COVID-19.

Sylvania Area Family Services: to support the distribution of hygiene and personal care items to low-income families participating in their pantry program.

YWCA of Northwest Ohio: to support costs associated with hotel-quarantine stays for victims seeking service at their domestic violence shelter.

Greater Toledo Community Foundation created the COVID-19 Response Fund to support northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofit organizations as they assist in responding to the spread of COVID-19 in the community and experience financial challenges in doing so.

A second COVID-related fund – the Community Resilience Fund – to address long-term recovery efforts of individuals and organizations as a result of the COVID outbreak – was introduced on May 27, 2020. Nonprofit organizations implementing long-term recovery initiatives related to the coronavirus outbreak can submit a proposal through the Foundation’s online application process. GTCF will continue to make grants from the COVID-19 Response Fund and the Community Resilience Fund as long as donations are received. GTCF will provide grants to northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofits and will not be giving money directly to individuals. GTCF is distributing 100 percent of funds raised.
