TOLEDO, OHIO, April 7, 2021 – The Board of Trustees of Greater Toledo Community Foundation recently approved grants totaling $97,850 from the Equity & Access Initiative Fund to proactively address concerns raised by communities that are disproportionately impacted by inequity and lack of access in the Greater Toledo area.

Grants were awarded to two area nonprofit organizations:

Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, Inc. was awarded a $47,850 grant to support a pilot leadership track and professional development program in collaboration with Issue Box Theatre, Toledo Opera and The University of Toledo School of Social Justice.

Jumpstart was awarded a $50,000 grant to increase access to capital for minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in collaboration with Economic and Community Development Institute, Inc.

In response to recent events across the nation and within the Toledo region, the Foundation has created this new multi-year initiative. An independent committee comprised of current GTCF board members and community-minded individuals is working with GTCF staff and board to develop a long-term strategy that will proactively address social determinants of health and nonprofit capacity. The GTCF board members on the committee are Kaye Aldridge, Retired Senior VP, The University of Toledo; Diana Block, EVP, Block Communications; Pariss Coleman, II, Esq., Senior Counsel, The Andersons; and Hussien Shousher, Retired President,
