TOLEDO, OHIO, April 19, 2021 – The Board of Trustees of Greater Toledo Community Foundation recently approved grants totaling $16,500 from the SPARK Fund to support new and existing programs focusing on education, health and human services while positively impacting underserved individuals and families in the Greater Toledo area.

Grants were awarded to two area nonprofit organizations:

Baby University – a grant in the amount of $8,444 was awarded to support a parenting and child development program for low-income South Toledo families.

Good Grief of Northwest Ohio - a grant in the amount of $8,056 was awarded to support a school-based grief support program for students.

SPARK is an affinity group of Greater Toledo Community Foundation designed to develop the next generation of young community philanthropists in northwest Ohio. It is a year-long curated experience designed to help individuals ignite their philanthropic passions.

Participants in the group (known as the cohort) are equipped with the tools and insights to create a lifetime of transformative change. The Spark 2021 cohort decided their particular area of focus was in providing grants to support new or existing community-based Educational programs and/or Health & Human services that focus on mental health. The culmination of the year-long program is a grantmaking process where the cohort recommends the recipients of grant funds.

Individuals interested in learning more and participating in a future SPARK cohort can contact Jesse Stock at [email protected].
