Scholarships

General Information

Through the generosity of many individuals, families and businesses, scholarships are awarded on an annual basis from philanthropic funds which have been established with Toledo Community Foundation. These awards assist local students in their pursuit of higher education.

Toledo Community Foundation manages over 125 scholarship funds. Although we offer scholarships from over 125 individual funds, those listed here represent only the scholarships for which Toledo Community Foundation is the contact for obtaining application materials.

Please check back throughout Jan/Feb for updated application materials for the 2012-2013 academic year.  Application materials are now being revised and updated on the website as they become available.  Those with 2012 application deadlines below are ready. 

Applications are not accepted via email or fax. They must be completed and sent via US Mail, with required attachments as outlined in the Information Sheet, to:

Toledo Community Foundation Scholarships

Advertising Club of Toledo Scholarship Fund - for students pursuing a communications, marketing, public relations or related degree at The University of Toledo or Bowling Green State University (or another accredited university or college in Ohio or Michigan) who will be full-time juniors, seniors or graduate students during the year the scholarship is awarded.  Application deadline: March 1, 2012

BCSN Student of the Month Scholarship Project - for graduating seniors attending a high school in the Buckeye CableSystem's Toledo service area.  Application deadline for Student of the Month is the 15th of each month, September through April (with few exceptions: Nov. 7 for December SOTM, December 2 for January SOTM. See application and information sheet for monthly deadline dates).   

Belmont Caddy Scholarship Fund - for caddies of Belmont Country Club who might not otherwise qualify for the Evans Scholars Program. Application deadline: June 9, 2011

Belmont Country Club Employee Scholarship Fund - for employees and/or dependents of employees of the Belmont Country Club. Application deadline: June 9, 2011

Walter R. Bollinger and Norman J. Szymanski Scholarship Fund - for residents of Lucas County who are adult students pursuing a certificate (occupational career or a technical oriented educational training program), associate's or bachelor's degree.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship Fund - for graduating high school students of Hispanic heritage who are permanent residents of Buckeye CableSystem's Toledo service area. Application deadline: March 1, 2012

Buckeye CableSystem/TV One Scholarship Fund - for graduating high school students of African-American heritage who are permanent residents of Buckeye CableSystem's Toledo service area.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012 

Catawba Island Club Scholarship - for full-time or seasonal employees of the Catawba Island Club who are enrolled at an accredited, nonprofit two-year or four-year college, technical college or trade school. Application deadline: June 8, 2012  

Jamie Farr Toledo Classic Scholarship Fund - for graduates of high schools in northwest Ohio/southeast Michigan demonstrating financial need.  Application deadline:  March 2, 2012. 

First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund - for high school graduates who are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg.   Application deadline:  June 1, 2011

Edith Franklin Pottery Scholarship - to assist promising or accomplished potters (who are current residents of northwest Ohio or Lenawee or Monroe Counties in Michigan) in obtaining additional education or training in the ceramic arts. Application deadline: February 27, 2012

GEAR UP Scholarship Fund - for graduates of Waite High School. Application deadline:  May 16, 2011

Charles and Jean Gottfried Scholarship - for graduating high school seniors who reside in Wyandot County, Ohio to attend an accredited school of higher education of their choice full-time.  Application deadline: March 1, 2012

Pat Hogan Scholarship - for high school graduates whose primary residence is in northwest Ohio or southeast Michigan pursuing a course of study in engineering or scientific studies. Preference will be given to students attending Owens Community College, Carnegie Mellon University, Purdue University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, or Rochester Institute of Technology. Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Huntington Scholarship Endowment Fund - for graduates of high schools in Wood County (Bowling Green, Elmwood, North Baltimore, Otsego and Rossford High Schools) who demonstrate financial need. Application deadline: March 16, 2012

Inverness Club Caddie Scholarship Fund - for caddies of Inverness Club who have not qualified for the Evans Scholars program. Application deadline: June 9, 2011

Amir and Shaheda Khan Scholarship for Journalism Fund - for individuals of the Islamic faith who are pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree in journalism at Kent State University, Michigan State University, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, or Wayne State University.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Amir and Shaheda Khan Scholarship for Law Fund - for individuals of the Islamic faith who are pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at Case Western Reserve University,  Michigan State University, The Ohio State University, University of Dayton, University of Michigan or The University of Toledo.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Local 8 Scholarship Fund - for children of deceased members of IBEW Local 8 or for disabled members or children of disabled members of Local 8. Application deadline: March 1, 2012

The Masters Scholarship Fund - for graduating high school seniors from Upper Sandusky High School, Upper Sandusky, OH. One-time awards. Application deadline: June 13, 2012

Robert L. Maxwell & Lathrop/Turner Scholarship Fund - for engineering students at the University of Toledo, students in the Construction Management program at BGSU, or the McWhorter School of Building Science program at Auburn University (Auburn, AL).  Application deadline: March 1, 2012

Ed and Sandra Metzger Scholarship Fund - for graduating seniors or graduates of high schools located in Wood County, Ohio with an intent to pursue an undergraduate degree in the field of manufacturing, engineering, interior design or business; preference will be given to applicants who are also related to a BioFit Engineered Products employee.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012.

C.B. and Sophie T. Miller Caddie Scholarship Fund - for Inverness Club caddies or students who are attending/have attended the Toledo Technology Academy or similar type of school; and/or plan to study the skilled trades, technologies, engineering or related type fields. Application deadline: June 9, 2011

Cathy Yvonne Moore Scholarship Fund - for graduates of Toledo Public Schools attending Owens Community College who have an interest in pursuing a degree in the field of education. After attending Owens Community College, the recipient must attend Bowling Green State University to complete an undergraduate degree in the field of education.  Application deadline: March 1, 2012

Charles Z. Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund - for students pursuing a course of study in music (at the undergraduate level), with an emphasis on jazz studies. Application deadline: March 23, 2012

Horace Gilbert Orser Memorial Scholarship Fund - for graduates of Perrysburg High School attending Princeton University.  If you are a member of the Perrysburg High School Class of 2012 and have applied for admission to Princeton University, you will want to complete this application by March 1, 2012.

Owens Corning Foundation Scholarship Fund - for the children and/or legal dependents of all current salaried and hourly full-time employees of Owens Corning or its majority owned affiliates. Application deadline:  March 1, 2012 

Sluhan Family Scholarship - for graduates of Waite High School who show financial need.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Stone Oak Country Club Employee Scholarship - for full or part-time employees of Stone Oak Country Club who are enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students at an accredited four-year post-secondary educational institution.  Application deadline:  March 1, 2012

Paul Szymanski Spirit Award for Toledo Junior Golf Association - for current members of the Toledo Junior Golf Association.  Application deadline:  June 15, 2011

Toledo Board of REALTORS Scholarship Fund - for graduates of high schools in northwest Ohio/southeast Michigan attending Ohio colleges or universities and who show financial need. Application deadline for renewal applicants:  May 27, 2011.    We will not solicit for new applicants for this scholarship in 2011. 


Toledo Estate Planning Council Scholarship Fund - for graduates of high schools in northwest Ohio/southeast Michigan (born on or after August 1, 1987) with financial need and at least one deceased parent.  Not soliciting for new applicants in 2012.


Toledo Rowing/Anderton L. "Pete" Bentley, Jr. Memorial Scholarship - for members of the Toledo Rowing Club.  Application deadline: May 25, 2012

United Muslim Association of Toledo Scholarship Fund - for Muslim students pursuing a degree in communications (which may include concentration in journalism, broadcasting, media, film or public relations).  Preference given to those engaged in journalism or journalism related studies.  Application deadline: March 1, 2012

Harold W. Wott-IEEE Toledo Section Scholarship Fund - for students pursuing a degree in the electrical/electronics engineering; electrical engineering technology; or computer science related fields. Application deadline: March 1, 2012
